Welcome to Form 5
Form 5 is part of the Learning for Life pathway at Woolston 6th Form. We follow a curriculum based on learning skills and knowledge inline with the Preparation for Adulthood Framework. This is then enhanced with Open Awards accreditation, which focuses on skills for learning and employment, resulting in our students leaving Woolston with several nationally recognised qualifications ready for their next steps in life.
We aim to develop independent living skills, giving our students the confidence to make informed choices and live as independently as they are able to. Over the course of the academic year, we will access different community services and events, building on essential skills learnt in the classroom, applying them in a functional way. For example, paying for goods – money handling skills and travelling using public transport.
A focus for our class is to look after our own wellbeing, building resilience to support development of the whole person into calm, confident young people prepared for their life’s journey.
If you have any suggestions for skills, you think would benefit your child, that college may be able to integrate into our curriculum or any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with us.
Looking forward to working together for an exciting year ahead!
Thanks,
Claire
